Shannon and Chris’s colorful spring wedding in New Orleans was truly a dream come true for photographers. Every detail felt intentional, vibrant, and joy-filled — from the outfits to the florals, to the stunning venues. What made this wedding so memorable wasn’t just the places or the pretty details (though those were incredible). It was the thoughtfulness and energy they brought into their day.
Their color story was chef’s kiss. Shannon had a vision of a colorful spring wedding, and she totally brought it to life. The impact of color theory was woven into every element of the day. When a couple takes the time to plan a cohesive palette, it elevates the gallery so much!
The Power of Color Theory for a Colorful Spring Wedding
This wedding is a perfect example of why I’m so obsessed with color theory. From the bridesmaids’ dresses to the blooms and even the reception decor — everything tied together visually and emotionally.
And let’s talk about Shannon’s energy for a second! She was glowing. Her excitement for every moment absolutely radiated, and that kind of joy is contagious. Not just for the guests but for the camera, too. The energy you bring to your day is the energy your photos carry forever.
Iconic New Orleans Wedding Venues
We started the day getting ready at Hotel Peter & Paul, and even if you’re not getting married there, it’s an incredible place for wedding prep photos!
The ceremony took place at the legendary St. Louis Cathedral — one of the oldest cathedrals in the U.S. and so iconic with its view over Jackson Square. It was such a dreamy spot for this colorful spring wedding.
And for the reception? We second-lined our way over to the Ursuline Convent, which has the dreamiest manicured hedges and a timeless vibe that fit the day perfectly. Chris’s family is from NOLA and Shannon’s from Philly, so the second line was a special way to share New Orleans celebration culture with everyone. The energy was unreal!
