I first met Savita about three years ago while photographer her and her friends on a bachelorette trop in New Orleans! We all connected so well that I started following the whole crew on Instagram. Ever since, Savita and I have been each other’s biggest cheerleaders! We’re always in each others DMs hyping each other up. When I planned a trip to Portland, I knew I had to reach out and set something up! We had the most amazing couples session at Peninsula Park Rose Garden here in Portland!

Savita and her fiancé, Chris, were absolutely the sweetest couple! They welcomed me straight from the airport with an iced latte in hand (such a thoughtful touch!) and brought me back to their cozy apartment where I got to meet their adorable black cat. It felt like I was being greeted by old friends rather than just meeting them for the first time!

After a quick refresh, we set off to one of their favorite local spots—the Peninsula Park Rose Garden. Nestled right in their neighborhood, the garden was the perfect backdrop for our session, and it was truly breathtaking. Fun fact: Portland is known as the “City of Roses,” and it’s easy to see why with its stunning rose gardens scattered throughout the city. They even have a women’s soccer team called the Thorns, which ties into the city’s love for roses. Exploring the garden with Savita and Chris, surrounded by fragrant blooms, was the perfect way to kick off our time together, and I can’t wait to share the magic we captured!

Navigating the Bright Sun in Portland

We shot on one of the most challenging days for photography— the sun was high and bright, creating harsh light that bounced off the grass, casting a tricky green glow. But with a bit of creativity, careful timing, and strategic angles, we turned those challenges into magic! The Peninsula Park Rose Garden was such a meaningful spot for Savita and Chris, a place they walk to often, so capturing their love in this familiar setting made it even more special. We embraced the sun-kissed moments, surrounded by the vibrant roses, and created some truly stunning images.

After the shoot, we grabbed some pizza together, and it felt just like hanging out with old friends. It was the perfect way to wrap up such a fun, laid-back day. This kind of connection is what makes photography so much more than just taking photos—it’s about capturing your story and sharing in the experience together.
