Madison and Orim recently got married in Istanbul, Turkey but wanted to get some more intentional photos done by the Waterawal in their wedding attire. Madison told me that they got married legally in the summary and just came back from Istanbul in September.
This was my first time shooting at the Waterwall so I needed to explore! I went the night before and it was PACKED. I had suggested a morning or an evening shoot to Madison but said that I thought morning would be better for the temperature and crowds and this was absolutely the right decision. It was completely empty at 9AM on a Sunday morning thank goodness! We would have really struggled if it was as packed as the night before.
The only downside we encountered is that it was a little wetter than we expected… which should not have come as a surprise. Madison said that her hair is naturally curly so we needed to limit her time in the splash zone lol. So we started pulled back in the park and just slowly made our way up to it. Once we got up there it was absolutely worth the mist, It was such a surreal backdrop!
I knew I wanted to add some slow shutter in there so that you could see the movement of the waterfall. I ended up having to drop down to 1/5 for my shutter with some of these shots…. I have to brag because that is the lowest I’ve ever tried to go and I was still able to avoid the camera shake!
It was a pleasure to be able to help Madison get her dream photos here in Houston and so fun to explore the Waterwall for the first time!
